Batman might be best known for fighting crime in Gotham City, but one real-life version of the superhero has taken on a very different mission in London.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! And instead of chasing villains or saving the world, he’s helping ordinary people with something that’s becoming increasingly expensive: filling up their cars.
A heartwarming video shows a man dressed as the iconic DC superhero paying for people’s fuel, offering some much-needed financial relief at a time when motorists are struggling with soaring prices.
While Batman is usually associated with expensive gadgets, high-speed car chases and dramatic rescues, this particular Caped Crusader is proving that sometimes the simplest gestures can make the biggest difference.
And judging by the reactions of those he helped, his generosity certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
One grateful motorist told him: “Batman, we appreciate you.”
Another appeared particularly overwhelmed by the unexpected kindness, revealing that they had been worrying about how they would afford their next fill-up.
“I really appreciate this. I was thinking, how am I going to get money to get fuel?”
It’s a comment that highlights just how difficult everyday expenses have become for some families.
Another man explained that his daughter is seven months pregnant, meaning the money saved on fuel could instead go towards buying essential items for the baby.
For him, the gesture wasn’t simply about getting free petrol. It meant having a little extra money available as his family prepares to welcome a new arrival.
And with fuel prices remaining painfully high across Britain, it’s easy to understand why the unexpected act of generosity meant so much.
According to Fuel Finder UK’s figures from 20 October 2026, the average price of unleaded petrol stands at approximately 173.6p per litre, while diesel costs around 198.8p per litre.
At those prices, filling a typical 55-litre tank costs roughly £95 for petrol or £109 for diesel.
The RAC has also highlighted the financial pressure facing drivers, with fuel costs significantly higher than they were earlier in the year.
For people who rely on their vehicles for work, family responsibilities or simply getting from A to B, those costs can quickly become a serious burden.
That’s what makes this Batman’s unusual approach to helping people particularly meaningful.
There are no elaborate stunts or fictional superpowers involved. Just someone dressed as one of the world’s most recognisable superheroes using their own money to make everyday life a little easier for strangers.
And while paying for a tank of fuel might not sound like the sort of heroic act you’d see in a blockbuster film, for someone wondering how they’re going to afford petrol, it can mean everything.
Batman might be a fictional billionaire, but this London version is showing that you don’t need a Batmobile or a mansion to make a difference.
Sometimes, being a real-life superhero is as simple as picking up someone else’s bill.
