Tom DeLonge has heard thousands of people sing ‘All The Small Things’ back to him over the years, but hearing more than 43,000 fans belt it out while he sat watching his favourite baseball team clearly hit differently.

With the Padres leading 4-3 heading into the eighth inning, the stadium continued what has become a home-game tradition by blasting the Blink-182 classic.
Fox Sports cameras quickly found DeLonge sitting near the field as thousands of Padres fans began singing along.
The musician could be seen nodding his head as he appeared to become misty-eyed while taking in the surreal moment.
One of the announcers said: “What a cool moment, here in San Diego … Blink-182, especially for those of us of a certain age, we all know they have an extensive, very impressive catalog of late 90s, early 2000s pop-punk music.”
He continued: “But to be in the ballpark when 43,000-plus are singing one of your biggest hits to you … can’t imagine the feeling.”
Another commentator perhaps summed it up even better, adding: “that’s gotta be like a musician’s World Series right there.”
DeLonge didn’t stay emotional for long.
Once he noticed the camera in front of him, he joined the thousands of people around the stadium and shouted the song’s famous “Work sucks! I know” line before waving his yellow rally towel.
The moment was particularly fitting given DeLonge’s connection with the city. Blink-182 formed just outside San Diego in Poway, California, in 1992, while DeLonge has long been a vocal Padres supporter.
The footage also struck a chord with people online.
One Reddit user wrote: “Man wrote that song in his 20s probably thinking about a girl and now 43,000 strangers are singing it back to him at a baseball game. life is weird and beautiful sometimes”
Another added: “I could only imagine the feeling of my legacy still impacting so many people in front of me in a setting one normally wouldn’t expect .”
And the night got even better for DeLonge, with the Padres holding on for a 4-3 victory.
For someone who has spent decades hearing crowds sing his music back at him, it was a reminder that sometimes it’s where you hear it that makes all the difference.
