One pub has found a rather creative way of encouraging parents to keep tabs on their children — and the consequences for failing to do so sound suitably chaotic.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!A picture shared on Reddit shows a small blackboard sitting on the bar carrying a tongue-in-cheek warning aimed directly at anyone allowing their youngsters to roam free.
It reads: “UNATTENDED CHILDREN WILL BE GIVEN A REDBULL AND TAUGHT HOW TO SWEAR.”
The image was posted to the r/funny community under the equally appropriate caption: “Let them roam at your own risk.”
And while the threat is clearly a joke, plenty of people could relate to the sentiment behind it.
One person recalled another establishment taking a similarly creative approach, writing: “I remember seeing one that said “unattended children will be sold to the circus””
Another, who said they previously worked in a bar, suggested dealing with unsupervised youngsters was a familiar problem.
“I used to work in a bar, for a long time actually, the amount of arrogant parents never ceased to amaze. I’m a parent now and would never dare pulling that shit.”
It turns out the Red Bull strategy isn’t the only variation doing the rounds, either.
Another commenter revealed: “Sandwich shop by my house has a sign that says “unattended children will be given free espresso and a kitten””
However, one parent spotted a fairly obvious flaw in the pub’s proposed punishment.
“Bold of you to assume my kids don’t already drink redbull and swear…”
Fair point.
Either way, the sign manages to get its message across without requiring a lengthy list of house rules.
Keep an eye on the kids — or apparently risk collecting them later with considerably more energy and an expanded vocabulary.
