A quiet bit of doomscrolling at work turned into a surreal celebrity encounter for one woman after Tom Cruise apparently mistook her posture for a sign that something was wrong.

The unexpected interaction was captured on security footage and later shared on TikTok by a woman named Klementina (@klementina_lle).

In the clip, Klementina can be seen sitting in what appears to be her work’s employee break room with her back facing an open doorway.

She was actually looking through her phone, but from outside the room, the situation apparently looked rather different.

Cruise walked past the doorway, glanced inside and noticed her slumped over.

Rather than continuing on his way, the Hollywood star turned around and came into the room to check whether she was OK.

The viral footage – which has since been shared across multiple social media platforms – shows Cruise crouching down beside Klementina and attempting to get her attention.

It then takes her a moment to realise that the person unexpectedly checking on her is none other than the Top Gun star.

After reassuring him that everything was fine, the pair shared a fist bump before Cruise headed away.

Klementina later shared the security footage on TikTok, explaining exactly what had actually been happening when the actor spotted her.

She wrote over the clip: “When you are doomscrolling at work and Tom Cruise decides it’s your day!”

According to Klementina, Cruise had thought she was genuinely upset and approached because he wanted to make sure nothing was wrong.

The encounter understandably left her surprised.

Klementina said she could barely speak after realising who had stopped to check on her, although she got another opportunity when Cruise passed by later. This time, she revealed she did manage to get a photo with him.

The location where the security footage was captured wasn’t revealed, via The Sun.

The clip attracted plenty of attention online, with some sceptics reportedly questioning whether the interaction could have been a publicity stunt as Cruise promotes his new movie Digger.

Others who said they had previously worked alongside the actor pushed back on that suggestion by sharing their own experiences of Cruise paying attention to people around him.

One crew member wrote: “He did the same thing to me on set!”

They continued: “Hahaha I was working in front of the camera and just thought it was some grip trying to get my attention and then finally after several attempts I turned around and realised, ‘Oh snap‘ Tom was trying to get my attention.”

Another person said they had experienced similar behaviour while working with Cruise on Minority Report. They wrote: “I worked with him on Minority Report and can confirm he’s a very attentive guy and was great to the entire crew.”

This does track. Earlier this year, Cruise went viral when he invited staff members of a cinema to watch The Odyssey with him after he turned up after hours.

Cruise has also become known for spending considerable amounts of time interacting with fans during red-carpet appearances.

However, it seems that no matter how much I doomscroll on my phone, no Hollywood megastars never appear to check up on me.
