A registered sex offender with a documented history of allegedly sniffing women’s buttocks in public has been arrested again after his behaviour reportedly caught the attention of shoppers and police.

Calese Crowder, 39, was arrested last week by the Glendale Police Department after officers responded to reports of suspicious behaviour at businesses in California, per ABC7.

Police were initially called to a business in the 1500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, near Jefferson Elementary School, on Friday.

Witnesses claimed Crowder had been crouching down and getting unusually close to other people.

Surveillance footage obtained by Eyewitness News from Big Sav Discount Store appears to show Crowder crouching near an employee while she stocked shelves.

Store manager Jimmy Koh claimed this was far from the first time he had encountered the behaviour.

“I know he’s harmless, but it’s a weird fetish,” Koh said.

Koh said it was the third time Crowder had behaved similarly inside the store.

“Crouching down like he normally would, and he’ll just look around and try to take the chance to sniff like any woman’s butt,” he said.

“The first time I caught him, I was like, what is this guy doing? He looks creepy,” Koh added.

Police were also called to a Marshalls store near South Brand Boulevard and East Broadway following reports of a similar incident.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the businesses and identified Crowder. Police eventually located him in the 100 block of South Brand Boulevard.

Crowder was arrested for violating the terms of his parole and, at last check, was being held without bail. The court will now determine what happens next.

His latest arrest follows a string of previous incidents dating back several years.

Crowder was re-arrested in August 2025 following another reported sniffing incident at a Walgreens store in Burbank.

He was already on parole and has a documented history of arrests for similar alleged lewd conduct in Glendale and Burbank dating back to 2021.

Crowder admitted violating his parole last year and was sentenced to more than 100 days behind bars.

Just a month before the Walgreens incident, he was taken into custody after police received reports of a suspicious person loitering in the women’s department of Nordstrom Rack at the Burbank Empire Center.

He was subsequently located at a nearby Walmart, where officers said he had been following a female shopper.

“While in the women’s section, the suspect was observed following a female customer, crouching near her, and engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks,” police shared in a statement last year. “Given the nature of the behavior, officers made contact with the suspect and detained him for further investigation.”

Crowder had previously made headlines in 2023 after Michaela Witter accused him of stalking her inside a Barnes and Noble bookstore in Burbank.

Her TikTok footage of the encounter went on to receive millions of views.

The video showed Crowder crouching close to Witter’s legs. When she confronted him about what he was doing, Crowder claimed he was tying his shoes.

Witter said it appeared he was smelling her from behind and alleged he had behaved similarly towards another woman inside the store.

Now, following the latest reports from businesses in Glendale, Crowder is once again in custody over an alleged parole violation.
