There are plenty of things that can interrupt a round of golf — bad weather, a lost ball, or the occasional heated exchange over slow play.

A video posted by TikTok user Rachel Hanson (@rachhansonn) has exploded online after capturing what can only be described as an absolutely enormous alligator wandering across a golf course as if it owned the place.
And, judging by the footage, it might as well.
The clip shows the giant reptile casually making its way across the fairway, completely unfazed by the golfers nearby. “I almost shat my pants because why is this a literal dinosaur gator,” she captioned the clip.
That caption alone was enough to set the tone — and for anyone who has seen the footage, it’s hard to argue with it.
The video has already racked up more than 40,000,000 views on TikTok, proving once again that the internet never gets tired of golf-course alligator sightings.
And this one might be one of the biggest yet.
Male alligators can grow up to 15 feet long and weigh as much as 1,000 pounds, and while there’s no official measurement for the creature in Hanson’s video, viewers were quick to point out that it looked close to the upper end of that scale.
Put simply, it looked enormous.
Social media users wasted no time filling the comments with disbelief.
“He can have the golf course,” one person wrote, with a second quipping: “Bro, that’s a dinosaur.”
“No one will ever convince me that dinosaurs are actually extinct because that is a FREAKING DINOSAUR,” another added.
“That’s Godzilla,” a fourth typed, with a fifth writing: “That is prehistoric…”
“He’s bigger than the golf carts,” joked another, as one person wrote: “Did you travel back in time?”
It’s become a familiar genre online: golfers filming giant alligators slowly strolling through courses in Florida while everyone watches from a safe distance.
And there’s a reason it happens so often.
Florida golf courses are, essentially, perfect alligator habitats.
With water hazards, ponds, thick vegetation, fish, birds and open sunny spaces for basking, courses unintentionally create ideal environments for the reptiles to thrive. Rather than “invading” golf courses, alligators are simply moving through spaces that closely resemble their natural homes.
Florida’s alligator population now sits at over one million following decades of successful conservation, which means encounters like this are becoming increasingly common.
Most of the time, experts say alligators want little to do with humans and will avoid conflict if left alone.
And that’s the key part: Left alone.
