Adam Sandler has built an entire career on making people laugh — but if you’ve ever sat through one of his many great rom-coms, you know he also knows tap into viewers’ emotions and leave people with tears in their eyes.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! But this week, the beloved actor might’ve outdone himself with a romantic gesture that left the internet equal parts amused and emotional.
To mark 23 years with his wife Jackie, the comedy icon posted a tribute that felt simple at first glance… until fans realised just how far he’d gone.
The post showed a clear blue sky with a giant skywritten message reading “23 A <3 J”, paired with a caption that kept it classic Sandler: “Happy 23rd anniversary to my sweetheart. Love you forever.”
And just like that, social media did what social media does best.
The comments flooded in almost instantly, with fans turning the wholesome anniversary post into a mix of admiration, jokes, and quotes from some of Sandler’s most romantic movies.
Among the countless “Happy Anniversary” comments, one person wrote: “He just raised the bar for all the men.”
Another added: “Will you still love me in the morning?”
One comment that quickly caught attention joked: “You mean ‘forever and ever, babe’?’
While another fan leaned fully into celebration mode with: “Happy Anniversary Jackie and Adam!!! You go together like Spaghetti and Meatball!!”
And perhaps the most relatable reaction of all came from one follower who wrote: “Way to set the bar at a reasonable level for us regular guys (PS. I’m joking)”
It’s the kind of post that reminds people why Sandler and Jackie have remained one of Hollywood’s most unexpectedly solid couples.
For two stars who’ve spent decades in the spotlight, they’ve largely kept things refreshingly grounded.
Their story goes back to the late ‘90s when they met on the set of Big Daddy in 1999. Jackie, then still working under her maiden name Jackie Titone, had a small role as a sports bar server, while Sandler was leading the film as Sonny — a man trying to impress a woman by adopting a child.
Fortunately for Adam, real life turned out much simpler.
The pair began dating soon after and, by 2003, were married at Dick Clark’s oceanfront Malibu estate. In one of the more on-brand Sandler wedding details ever, his bulldog Meatball reportedly attended wearing a custom tuxedo.
Since then, they’ve become one of the rare long-haul success stories in Hollywood.
Not only have they stayed together, but they’ve worked together constantly too — appearing in more than 20 films across the Happy Madison universe.
Jackie herself made the jump from modelling into acting and has carved out a familiar place in Sandler’s projects, appearing in productions like Grown Ups, Hotel Transylvania and more.
Together they’ve also raised two daughters, Sadie and Sunny, both of whom have started stepping into acting themselves.
And if there was ever any doubt about how Sandler views his marriage, he’s been unusually open about it in recent years.
Back in 2022, he gave a rare glimpse into the mechanics of their relationship, saying: “Nobody wants to hear about Adam Sandler’s secret to marriage, but I guess here’s the secret: Jackie and I like spending time with each other.”
He continued: “We try to make each other laugh, try to listen, try to include each other, try to support each other. We try our best—that’s all. And we don’t ever think of not being together. We always talk about our future together.”
That mindset has clearly stayed intact.
Over the last year alone, the pair have continued showing up side-by-side — from red carpets at Happy Gilmore 2 and Jay Kelly premieres to rare hand-in-hand walks through New York.
At the Jay Kelly premiere last November, Sandler doubled down on what makes it work.
“We’re very close. We like to talk, like to laugh, like to have fun, and like to think about things and take care of our kids,” he said.
He added: “I’m just more thankful than I’ve ever been. Happy I got to do this life, happy all the people who’ve been with me during all this stuff, and helped me out, and [it’s] just been a phenomenal time. My whole family’s always been great to me. My wife and I talk about stuff, and what to do, and what to do next, and it’s just been a very cool life.”
And what better way to honour the woman who has stood by his side for 23 years than a message of love written in the sky for the world to see.
Happy anniversary to the Sandlers!
