There are multi-tools… and then there’s whatever on earth this is.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Curiosity Box has launched a new EveryDay Carry (EDC) Multifool — yes, Multifool — and it might be one of the most absurdly specific gadgets ever put on sale.
Priced at $25, the metal wallet-sized tool comes packed with features you probably never knew you needed. And at the very top of that list? A Kangaroo Safety Gauge (KSG).
According to the product’s creator, YouTuber Michael Stevens, better known as Vsauce, it’s designed for one very important purpose.
“This is a kangaroo safety gauge. If you run into one and it fits in this hole when held at arm’s length, it’s far enough away you’re safe. But if it doesn’t, it’s too late to run away,” he explains.
That’s right. A dedicated kangaroo proximity detector. For emergencies.
But that’s just the beginning.
The card also includes an Earth’s Schwarzschild diameter, a Lego attachment, a protractor for architectural inclines, a protractor of repose angles, a human pinky length ruler, and a relativistic centimeter (stationary inch) ruler.
Which, naturally, Vsauce also explains.
“It’s got a ruler of inches, which are centimeters… when the card has a velocity of 91.9% light speed in your rest frame.”
Useful? Debatable.
Ridiculous? Absolutely.
There’s also a built-in thermometer — though perhaps not in the way you’d expect.
“The card also has an accurate thermometer. Let’s see, right now it says it is less than 1400 degrees Celsius. And that is true, because that’s the melting point of this alloy. So if it wasn’t true, the card couldn’t say it was.”
Honestly, hard to argue with that logic.
And if all that wasn’t enough, it can also open bottles, fits Lego for “like no reason,” and lets you say hello in 10 extinct languages.
Because, as Vsauce puts it: “In an emergency, a lot of people are gonna have knives and screwdrivers, but you will be the only one who can say hello in 10 different languages that no one speaks anymore.”
The product description on Curiosity Box calls it “extraordinarily useful in very, very specific circumstances” – which feels like the understatement of the year.
So, if you frequently find yourself running into kangaroos and are perhaps getting a little too close… why not give this a go?
