The bizarre moment, which has since gone viral online, happened at a park in Xinjiang, western China, as a crowd of children and adults gathered to watch the robot perform.

Footage shows the humanoid throwing punches and spinning as part of its choreographed routine to Boney M’s iconic track ‘Rasputin’ before suddenly launching a kick straight into a small boy standing nearby.

The child can be seen immediately clutching his stomach and doubling over in pain before lowering himself to the ground.

According to local state-run media, the boy was not seriously injured, and his mother later confirmed he was unharmed.

But the incident was enough for park officials to suspend the performance.

The video quickly exploded on social media, where users were split between concern, disbelief and, naturally, jokes about the robot uprising.

Some viewers were shocked at the crowd’s reaction — or lack of one.

One comment on NBC News’ Facebook post read: “Is the crowd filled with robots, too? How did almost nobody react to that at all?”

Others pointed out the obvious.

“In the robot’s defense, it did look like the kid was too close,” another person wrote.

Reddit, meanwhile, did what Reddit does best — immediately turning the whole thing into apocalyptic comedy.

“So it begins…” one user joked.

Another wrote: “I’m sure that is the generation that will fight the robot wars. And the robots already know.”

One commenter seemed especially fascinated by the robot’s dramatic exit after the kick, saying: “I swear then he stared down that girl who was laughing! After slowly backing away! And wearing a wig! This video has it all.”

And another couldn’t resist an iRobot reference, writing: “Already breaking the first law.”

While there’s no sign this was anything more than an unfortunate mistimed movement, the footage has only added fuel to the endless internet obsession with rogue robots.

For now, humanity remains safe… but maybe stand a little further back next time.
