The 38-year-old singer revealed the update to fans on Instagram after returning to hospital for a follow-up MRI scan, admitting beforehand that she was terrified about what doctors might tell her.

But hours later, everything changed.

Sharing a video from hospital with a cannula in her arm ahead of the scan, Jessie told followers: “Not going to lie, I’m s****ing myself”.

The singer, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, had gone in for her annual check-up nearly a year after first announcing she had been diagnosed with early breast cancer.

At the time of her diagnosis last June, Jessie revealed she would be undergoing surgery while trying to continue working and performing publicly.

Now, after months of recovery, operations, emotional updates, and uncertainty, the chart star confirmed the moment she had finally received the news she had been waiting for.

“RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE,” she wrote online. “I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year”.

The announcement immediately sparked an outpouring of support from fans and celebrities alike, many of whom had followed her health journey closely over the past 12 months.

Singer Becky Hill commented: “more life, love & power to u JJ ❤️ beating cancer is a real flex”.

Former Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh added: “Amazing news”.

Loose Women presenter Andrea McLean also celebrated the update, writing: “Ohhh this is WONDERFUL NEWS!!”

Jessie first went public with her diagnosis in June last year, explaining that doctors had caught the cancer early.

At the time, she told fans: “I was diagnosed with early breast cancer.”

She added: “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’”.

The singer later underwent surgery which successfully removed the cancer before it had spread elsewhere in her body.

Following the operation, Jessie remained remarkably open about both the physical and emotional reality of recovery, regularly updating fans through social media.

In one candid post after surgery, she said: “Cancer is all gone.

“My nipple is where it used to be, I can watch Love Island with no guilt. I am getting to rest and talk to friends more than ever.

“My mum lives with us. Sky just being Sky. Chanan making me feel safe and the messages are 10/10.

“Connecting with other people who are going through a similar time and being able to support each other.”

Throughout the past year, Jessie repeatedly spoke about how dramatically the diagnosis had shifted her perspective on life.

Speaking previously at the Music Industry Trust Awards, she reflected on the emotional weight she had been carrying behind the scenes while continuing to work publicly.

“This year has changed my whole world,” she said. “My perspective, what battles I’m going to pick, when death comes knocking at your door, and you kind of have to answer and f kick it away, it just changes everything.”

While Jessie often tried to stay upbeat publicly, she also admitted there were periods where the emotional strain became overwhelming.

Towards the end of the year, the singer shared a raw update admitting she had reached one of the lowest points of the entire experience.

“This year has been heavy and hard in many ways for all of us, for me personally, one of the hardest but most magical years of my life. Personally and professionally,” she wrote.

She later added: “But all the sadness has come up this week, it’s the first time I’ve stopped (working and being in public in months) So I’m crying a lot. Writing s*** down feeling really low tbh. The lowest I have felt in a while.”

Jessie also encouraged others not to suppress difficult emotions, writing: “Don’t hold it in people. We are not superhuman or meant to be happy and positive all the time.”

Now, nearly a year on from the diagnosis that turned her life upside down, Jessie says she can finally breathe again.

And after everything she has endured over the past 12 months, fans across the world were more than ready to celebrate with her.
