For Raven Blakley, her timeline may have changed. And so, her family decided not to wait.

The 36-year-old single mother from Little Rock was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in December 2025, after initially believing she was dealing with gallbladder issues. What followed was a series of tests that led to a life-altering reality.

“Then I had to do a colonoscopy. And that’s when they found out that I have stage 4, basically terminal cancer,” Blakley told KARK 4 News.

The weight of that diagnosis hit instantly.

“My mind instantly went to grandkids, wedding days — I’m not going to see any of that,” the mum recalled.

With a one-year life expectancy and her future uncertain, those milestones suddenly felt out of reach. The thought of not being there for her daughters’ biggest life moments became impossible to ignore.

So her family stepped in to create one of those moments now.

In April, Blakley’s mother arranged a surprise visit to The Bridal Cottage in North Little Rock, giving Raven the chance to see her daughters — 17-year-old Teagan and 15-year-old Anneliese — try on wedding dresses.

“She got them to open up for me and my kids and let us go through and pick any dress we want in the whole entire store. Just so I could see my kids in wedding dresses,” Blakley said.

Inside the boutique, what would normally be a joyful pre-wedding experience took on a deeper emotional weight. For Raven, this wasn’t just dress shopping — it was a glimpse into a future she fears she may not get to witness.

“The whole time, all I could think was ‘this isn’t fair,’” she said.

The Bridal Cottage team, who hosted the family, described the moment as something they’ll never forget.

“We were truly honored to be a small part of such a meaningful moment for this beautiful family. Watching a mother share this special experience with her daughters was incredibly touching and something we will never forget.,” they shared on Facebook.

“This was a chance for Raven and her daughters to create a memory that is so often shared later in life. Giving them the opportunity to experience that moment together now was emotional, beautiful, and a powerful reminder that these moments are about so much more than dresses—they’re about love, family and memories that last forever.”

It’s a memory that now exists outside of timelines and expectations — one that Raven got to live, not just imagine. And despite everything, she’s refusing to let her diagnosis define how she spends the time she has.

“I’m going to be cheerful. I’m going to laugh. I’m going to joke,” she said. “I’m going to do whatever I can to stay positive.”

“I am determined to fight this with everything I have,” she added.

We wish Raven the very best on her health journey.
