If you’ve ever owned a dog, you’ll know that no matter how good they are, there will be moments when they decide to break the rules.

That adds to their charm – because who wants a dog that sits perfectly still and has no personality?

But while the occasional bit of furniture chewing or a pool of urine in the corner can be fixed and is a minor inconvenience, losing your dog is another thing entirely.

Letting them off lead is a big sign of trust, and is usually pretty terrifying when you do it for the first time… but they do usually come back when called.

Well, one owner clearly had quite a bit of trouble with their dog running off, so they had to be quite inventive in how to get it back whenever that happened.

Images of a dog went viral on social media after a hiker spotted it strolling around a trail by itself, clearly having run away from its owner, who was presumably very stressed.

However, this was not the dog’s first rodeo, as became apparent when the hikers examined its tag.

Reading the tag, it said: “I f*cked around and got lost. Can you call my mom, she’s probably losing her sh*t.”

You’d then assume that his mom’s number was on the other side of the tag.

People were quick to offer their thoughts, with one person writing: “That’s the direct guidance we need.”

A second said: “Need this for the cats and dogs who are little Houdini’s and escape artists because the cat and dog distribution, I fear, doesn’t always check for microchips.”

A third person wrote: “My dogs have NEVER got lost and their tags all said this! Because I would absolutely lose my shit if they went missing.”

While a fourth said: “That is brilliant by the owner.”

So if your dog is a little Houdini, it might be worth investing in a tag like this one because it certainly gained some attention, and you’d hope that the pooch was reunited with its very stressed out mother!
