A woman has taken to TikTok to show the bucket list her late husband made when he was a teenager, and has vowed to tick off an item each year on his birthday.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!I’m sure we can agree that losing a loved one is incredibly difficult, but they often leave things behind that we can treasure and remember them by.
Leslie Harter-Berg tragically lost her husband, Ryan, in 2019 following an aneurysm and stroke.
In an interview with The Dougy Center, Leslie described Ryan as “hilarious and oh so very kind,” noting that he loved storytelling and Lego.
Following his sudden passing, Leslie and their two children, Wit and Rory, were grieving their husband and father when they found something of his from years ago.
As with most of us, Ryan had many dreams and goals and was intent on seeing them through, so he got a pen and paper and noted them all down.
Number one on his bucket list was to make a list of things to do before he passed away, which he ticked off shortly after completing the list.
Throughout the list, Ryan’s humour became apparent as for number 30 he wrote, “live a ritious life,” misspelling the word “righteous. “
So number 31 in the list became “learn to spell”.
With 34 items on the list, Leslie, Wit, and Rory have vowed that they will tick off one item each year on Ryan’s birthday.
And judging by the images that Leslie has shared on TikTok, they are making their way through the list quite quickly.
They’ve ticked off number 26, which was to go to a public place dressed as a pirate, while also completing number 16, which was to play chess in the park.
Surrounded by loved ones, they completed number 29, which was to build a card tower measuring three feet, and they enjoyed a lovely day appreciating art at the museum to tick off number 27.
The two children have also taken up piano lessons, which has completed item number 13.
There are some aspects to the list that Leslie isn’t looking forward to; however, as for number 12, Ryan indicated that he wanted to go bungee jumping.
Leslie and her children have turned what was a very difficult time into something positive, and they’ll keep working their way through Ryan’s bucket list in the years to come, keeping his memory very much alive.
Have fun bungee jumping, Leslie!
