Fast food fans in the UK have spotted a McDonald’s menu item so big that it’s instantly sparked a wave of envy — and plenty of demands for the chain to bring it across the Channel.

The item in question? A colossal portion of fries designed for sharing, known as XXL Party Fries.

For a nation that already treats McDonald’s fries as borderline sacred, the discovery has triggered exactly the kind of reaction you’d expect.

And it all started with video reviews being shared on social media.

One video, posted by TikToker @foodreview.uk, has been circulating online after he stumbled across the oversized portion while travelling abroad. In the clip – which has amassed over 3.3 million views – he revealed what appears to be one of the biggest fry portions the fast food chain has ever served.

The creator teased the discovery in the caption, writing: “McDonald’s Fries Biggest Portion EVER!”

For anyone used to finishing their regular fries before the burger is even half gone, the scale of the box is immediately eye-catching. Instead of the classic carton, the fries arrive in a wide, tray-style box designed specifically for sharing.

Although “sharing” might be a loose term for many fans.

In the video, the TikToker holds up the giant serving while explaining exactly where he found it.

“I’m in Poland at the moment and I think this may be the biggest portion of McDonald’s fries in the world,” he tells viewers. Naturally, the comments section quickly filled with the kind of honesty only the internet can deliver when fries are involved.

One person admitted: “My toxic trait is that I would absolutely not share.”

Another joked: “Get me to Poland NOW.”

Plenty of viewers had a different request entirely — they simply wanted the fries brought to the UK.

“McDonald’s bring this to the UK please!” one commenter wrote, with another adding: “They should do them here.”

Even the presentation of the fries became a talking point. After one viewer pointed out that the tray didn’t appear completely full, the TikToker responded directly to the criticism, saying: “Yeah to be fair to them I had eaten some before I decided to do a TikTok.” (And I really don’t blame him.)

The company describes the oversized fries in glowing terms on its website, leaning into their appeal as a social snack… y’know, for SHARING. “Golden and crunchy on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside. Our favourite fries now come in a special, larger package that makes sharing with loved ones easier than ever,” the company states.

And Poland isn’t the only place experimenting with giant fry portions either.

McDonald’s has been quietly testing bigger fry formats across several markets, with Thailand also launching a similar concept called Party Fries.

The XXL-sized side arrived in Thailand on December 1, 2025, giving customers a noticeably larger serving than the typical order. Instead of the traditional carton, the fries are also served in an extra-wide tray designed for groups (sharing is caring, guys).

In Thailand, the oversized portion sells for around 99 THB (roughly $2.70).

Like the Polish version, it’s being promoted as a novelty-sized side meant for sharing — although judging by the online reactions, plenty of fans would happily tackle it alone.

The launch forms part of a wider series of experiments by the fast food giant to test larger portions in different regions.

In 2025, McDonald’s Japan introduced a “Grand” size fry option, which sat above the traditional large portion. Malaysia also got in on the action during International French Fry Day, when McDonald’s released the Fan Fries Meal in July. That promotion bundled oversized fries with a small drink and side, selling for about $2.34.

The limited offer proved hugely popular and quickly sold out, with the promotion ending on July 13 after a short run.

McDonald’s Malaysia chief marketing officer Chin Mei Lee explained the thinking behind the supersized idea, stating: “We know how much Malaysians love our fries – it’s never enough! That’s exactly what inspired the McDonald’s Fan Fries Meal.”

Despite the growing trend of larger fry formats appearing across different countries, UK fans may not want to get their hopes up just yet.

When asked about the possibility of introducing the giant fries closer to home, McDonald’s made it clear there are currently no plans to roll them out in Britain.

A spokesperson told The Mirror: “There are no current plans to introduce a fry portion on that scale in the UK&ROI.” Maybe they know that we just won’t be able to help ourselves and see the carton as a “personal” portion.

For now, it means British fans wanting to try the XXL version will likely have to travel. Still, if the viral reaction online is anything to go by, the appetite is definitely here.

And when it comes to McDonald’s fries, the UK clearly believes one thing above all else — bigger really is better.
