The Osbourne family has welcomed a new arrival — and her name carries a powerful tribute to one of rock’s most iconic figures.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Jack Osbourne has announced the birth of his newborn daughter with wife Aree Gearhart, revealing that the couple have chosen a name deeply connected to his late father. The baby girl has been named Ozzy Matilda Osbourne, honouring the legendary Black Sabbath frontman who died eight months ago at the age of 76.
The news was shared through a heartfelt social media post featuring a black-and-white clip of the newborn peacefully sleeping. Next to the baby was a small printed card reading “Hello, World,” which also confirmed her birth date as March 5, 2026.
Jack later shared his joy in a follow-up message, writing: “She’s arrived and she’s perfect.”
Born at 8:49AM, baby Ozzy Matilda weighed a healthy 7 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 19 inches long.
One small detail in the announcement immediately caught fans’ attention. Resting beside the newborn was a plush bat toy — a playful nod to one of the most infamous moments in rock history. In 1982, Ozzy Osbourne shocked the world during a live performance when he bit the head off a bat thrown onto the stage, cementing his reputation as the “Prince of Darkness.”
The announcement was also shared in a joint post alongside Jack’s mother, Sharon Osbourne, with the caption introducing the newest member of the family: “introducing Ozzy Matilda Osbourne.”
The birth adds another chapter to the ever-expanding Osbourne family. Jack, 40, is already father to four daughters. He shares Pearl Clementine, 13, Andy Rose, 10, and Minnie Theodora, 8, with his ex-wife Lisa Stelly. He also shares three-year-old Maple Artemis with his current wife, Aree Gearhart.
Jack and Gearhart married in September 2023 and had previously spoken about how excited they were about welcoming another child.
The pregnancy itself was first revealed in December, shortly after Jack left the jungle during his appearance on I’m A Celebrity. Speaking about the news at the time, he described it as an emotional turning point following the death of his father earlier in the year.
“I think it’s been partly a healthy distraction, partly healing — probably in that kind of ‘full cycle’ category, in a weird way,” Jack said.
He added that the positive news had helped shift the family’s emotional focus during a difficult period of mourning.
“It’s very much taken energy out of the grieving side of things and parked in a bit more hopefulness.”
Importantly for the family, Ozzy himself had been able to learn about the pregnancy before he passed away in July.
The legendary musician’s death came as a shock to many despite his well-documented health struggles in recent years. Speaking on his podcast, Hate to Break it to Ya, Jack admitted that even with Ozzy’s Parkinson’s diagnosis and other ailments, the speed of events caught the family off guard.
“Obviously everyone knew he was sick,” Jack explained. “But we weren’t expecting it to be as quick as it was. I think he was done.”
He also reflected on the quiet nature of his father’s final hours.
“He was up, he was doing his thing, had some breakfast, and that was it,” Jack shared.
Ozzy Osbourne’s passing in July marked the end of an era for heavy metal. The singer had spent decades shaping the genre, first as the frontman of Black Sabbath and later as a solo artist whose larger-than-life personality made him a cultural icon far beyond music.
