A routine day of errands turned into a full-blown viral spectacle after one woman’s attempt to climb through her own window spiralled into a moment of chaos that had the internet in stitches.

A quick call to a partner, neighbour, or locksmith usually solves the problem. But every now and then, someone decides to take matters into their own hands — and that’s exactly what Lisa Rowland did.
Unfortunately for her, the decision ended with more than just a successful re-entry into her home. It ended with millions of people witnessing one of the most unintentionally hilarious wardrobe malfunctions the internet has seen in a while.
The incident, which happened a couple of years back, exploded online after a video of the moment began circulating across social media platforms. In the clip, Lisa can be seen attempting to climb through a window after realising she had accidentally locked herself out.
It seemed like a simple enough plan. But things quickly turned upside down… literally.
Instead of smoothly climbing inside, Lisa ended up stuck halfway through the window frame, suspended upside down. As she struggled to free herself, the situation rapidly descended into chaos when her dress shifted, exposing far more than she had planned.
The clip, originally filmed by Lisa’s sister Nicole, has since racked up more than 20 million views as it spread across the internet, turning the unfortunate mishap into a global talking point.
In short, millions of people suddenly found themselves unexpectedly flashed through their phones.
With the video taking on a life of its own online, Lisa eventually appeared on ITV’s This Morning to talk about the moment with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary — and she had no shortage of details about what actually happened.
The day itself had started off completely normally.
Lisa explained that she had been out doing the school run before heading to the vet with her dog and squeezing in a quick shopping trip. But when she briefly returned home, she realised something was missing.
Her keys. Locked inside.
Faced with the problem, she spotted what looked like the obvious solution — an open window.
What followed, however, quickly turned into a moment of hilarity. As she attempted to manoeuvre herself through the window, Lisa suddenly realised things weren’t going according to plan.
“I tried to put it [her boob] back in! If you look, I tried while I was hanging, and then they both… I let go of everything,” she told the ITV show.
Her dress became caught during the attempt, leaving her dangling upside down while trying to regain control of the situation.
But things were only about to get worse.
Nicole, who had initially been trying to help, found herself abandoning the rescue mission entirely once the wardrobe malfunction escalated.
Lisa explained that while she was already stuck mid-air, the situation spiralled further when “the left one” also made an unexpected appearance.
At that point, there was very little anyone could do except watch the chaos unfold.
And then came another complication.
Lisa revealed that the sheer panic — combined with the fact she was hanging upside down and unable to move — caused an even more unfortunate reaction.
“I weed. Yeah. I did. I couldn’t move, I was hanging like a bat. When I fell to the ground covered in urine, I think I was past the point of panic! I think I’d passed every point,” she said.
Nicole also recalled the aftermath of the incident, explaining just how frantic the moment had been once Lisa finally managed to free herself.
Nicole said: “She came out the house, and she was like literally, it’s gone down my neck. I couldn’t breathe, there was nothing I could do.”
While the situation may have felt like a nightmare at the time, Lisa has since been able to laugh about it — especially as the video began generating waves of positive reactions online.
The footage was never originally intended for public viewing.
Lisa explained that she and her family had simply shared it privately between friends and relatives. But somehow, the video escaped that small circle and took on a life of its own across the internet.
Despite the embarrassment, Lisa has taken the viral moment in good spirits, embracing the laughter that has followed.
And crucially, she has also taken steps to make sure the situation never repeats itself.
After learning the hard way just how chaotic a locked-out situation can become, she now carries her house keys in a much safer way — wearing them on an elastic around her neck.
