Getting a hair transplant seems much more common nowadays, but how much do you know about the recovery process?

If you’re ever on a flight back from Turkey, you’ll probably see quite a few people on the plane with bandages and a very red head – but that seems like the easy part.

Some people choose to brave the treatment, like Marcus Barham, who took to social media to keep everyone updated on his recovery.

On day one after the transplant, the swelling really took hold, to which Marcus said that he resembled the character “Megamind”.

At the front of his head are the scabs where the transplant took place, which will eventually fall off and become a luscious head of hair.

Tragically, to get to that point, you have to endure a swollen head – but Marcus is the sort of guy who can laugh at himself, so that helps the process.

Buzzing with the results! Hopefully swelling goes down relatively quickly🤣 Also happy I can actually get up and about a bit so I don’t lose my mind🤣 #hairtransplant #gymtok #gymbro #journey #foryou

A band is wrapped around the forehead to prevent the swelling from spreading down to the face, so although it looks a bit odd, it serves an important purpose.

Marcus explained that he isn’t allowed to sweat during the healing process, which must be difficult for a guy who is into his fitness.

By the second and third day, Marcus had expected the swelling to go down a bit… which wasn’t the case at all. In fact, he had to loosen the band around his head as things had become a little too tight.

One part of the treatment that Marcus struggled with, which to others may sound like a dream, was having time off from work with nothing to do.

Since he’s not allowed to sweat, doing anything that requires more than a slow walk is off the table. What sounds like an excuse to sit about in front of the TV was actually driving Marcus up the wall as the boredom set in.

Luckily, by day four, the swelling had gone down, and then on day five, Marcus removed the band as his head had returned to a normal shape – albeit with the scabs remaining at the front.

Marcus explained in the comments that he paid £2,000 for the treatment, which covered a total of 2,500 grafts… but it sounds like the worst part is the recovery process that comes after.

The day will come when Marcus is pulling the hair out of his eyes, and this will all be a distant memory – but unfortunately, looking like Megamind is the price you have to pay.
